About AL JAMIA NAJMUL HUDA AL ISLAMIYA

Al Jamia Njamul Huda Al Islamiya is a pioneering educational institution equipped with the latest specifications. It is dedicated to providing a distinguished environment for memorizing the Holy Quran and learning Islamic sciences in various fields and programs, keeping pace with developments in a manner that does not conflict with traditional values. It also strives to instill moral values and foster a spirit of religious preaching among students.

The establishment and development of the university

The Al Jamia Njamul Huda Al Islamiya was founded in 1402 AH (corresponding to 1982 CE) by the well-known philanthropist Haji B. A. Ibrahim. The inspiration came from Sheikh Musa Al-Kanjari, a preacher and the then leader of the Tablighi Jamaat across Kerala. Haji Ibrahim was deeply influenced by his advice during one of the Sheikh’s missionary visits to Dubai, where Haji Ibrahim resided.

After searching for a suitable location, the village of Vettikkad on the outskirts of Manjeri—one of the prominent towns in the Indian state of Kerala—was chosen. At the time, the area was experiencing an intense wave of missionary activity led by a former Islamic scholar who had converted to Christianity. The university was thus established as a stronghold to counter this campaign. The institution began its journey as a small school with no more than 25 people, including both teachers and students. Gradually, it grew and developed into a university housing several faculties: a Qur’an memorization college for boys, another for girls, a Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Studies, a Faculty of Tajweed and Qira’at, and a Faculty of Postgraduate Studies. It now accommodates more than 400 male and female students. The total campus area spans approximately 16 acres, featuring four large buildings.

In a short time, the university—by the grace of God—managed to make a unique mark by preparing qualified individuals who actively contribute to leading the Muslim community in various aspects of life. The university remains determined to continue its journey, carrying a legacy of academic and missionary work spanning four decades, with the aim of achieving greater progress and prosperity.

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon the noblest of Messengers, and upon his family and companions. To proceed: Indeed, Islamic Shari'ah has given great importance to knowledge, for it is what rescues a person from misguidance and leads him to the straight path. It is the cure for the disease of ignorance and illiteracy. There is no path to societal progress and development except through education. Its fruits are not limited to the individual but extend to benefit the entire community.

Based on this principle, this university was established to remain a perennial source of knowledge — a spring to which every seeker returns and from which every thirsty soul drinks. This university aims to equip the younger generation with both Islamic and contemporary sciences, to nurture them with morals and values, and to graduate righteous scholars armed with knowledge and faith, capable of facing the challenges of the time and spreading across the globe to disseminate the true creed of Islam and its noble teachings.

Indeed, scholars are the inheritors of the Prophets, and calling to Allah (da‘wah) is among the greatest purposes of Prophethood. A scholar has not fulfilled his duty unless he takes up the mission of da‘wah in the best possible manner.

I ask Allah to accept this founding effort from me, to make it sincerely for His noble face, to grant this institution acceptance and longevity, and to fulfill the goals for which it was established. He alone is the One we seek help from, and upon Him is our reliance.
